Detective Danny Mancini is on a case, following a murder suspect. When he catches him, he finds out that the perp isn’t even human: he’s a 200 year old rogue vampire!

The department doesn’t believe him, and puts him on early retirement, despite his many years of service to the Chicago Police Department, which sends him into a downward spiral.

Two years later, Danny gets an invitation from the beautiful, young and very attractive Detective Angelica Cross to join a secret branch of the FBI to help her track down Vincent, the wayward vamp.

But renegade werewolves, meddling immortal witches and Danny’s strange visions of a life lived a century ago with Angelica make things more difficult than it should be.

RELEASE DAY for “Stake-Out (Paranormal Detectives Book One)”

A Century (a poem)

I thought I was mistaken

Never thought I’d see you again

I watched you die

Slowly, your mortal body

Wilted before my undying eyes

I walked away

Didn’t have the courage to change you

Didn’t have a heart to watch your smile

The light in your eyes

Fade away

When you left you took

A little piece of me

Away with you to Heaven

You promised me you’d see me again

Baby, I just wonder when?

Because immortality is no fun

If I can’t spend it with you

And now you’re here

Back again

But you’re not the same

You don’t know me anymore

A familiar face, the same place

But a different heart inside

A century went by

I barely noticed

Missing you

And now I miss you more

You’re here but you’re not the man I knew

Your heart is hardened

And I don’t know what to do

Can I make your mortal heart open up?

Can you make my immortal soul love again?

A Century (a poem)

Heartfelt Heroism (a poem)

They say

The true meaning of

A hero is…

To die so that others can live

Love is…

To care for another’s happiness

More than your own

Life cannot be only

This self-sacrificing charade

We live for others

More than ourselves

Their pains hurt us

Their woes devastate us

But it is not our choice

We were born like this

To hold other’s closer than we hold ourselves

To feel what they feel

To try and ease their suffering

Before our own

While we might not understand it

We cannot turn it off

We must embrace it

And hope that we can help

And be all that we can be

All that we were created to be

Heartfelt Heroism (a poem)

A Feeling (a poem)

“It started off as a feeling, but the feeling it started to grow…”–Bert McCracken, The Used

One look

One listen

One emotion was all it took

To get lost

In the abyss that is your soul

But filled at the same time

But I was convinced that I could

Make you whole again

In time

My conviction hasn’t wavered

I’m still standing here

You’re still far away

Just one feeling

Brought unimagined things

Into my life

That I didn’t need

i was fine before

You got here

But if you leave I will

Never be the same again

You changed me

Turned me like

A vampire turns his prey

And now I’m attached

Never leaving

Because I can’t

I’m in too deep

I never felt a thing before

Now I feel everything

Too strongly

When it all boils down to it

I wouldn’t have my life

Any other way

Than with your presence

Lighting it up

Because that’s what love does

Lights up the darkness

So you can see

So I could see

What was right in front of me

Now, when will you see?

A Feeling (a poem)

Can This Be? (a poem)

So strong

This feeling

My cold, clammy hands

Rapidly beating heart

Shaking extremities

Could only mean

One of two things

Either I am

Scared to death

Or I am

Falling in love

How could this be?

How could this happen to me?

I swore it off

I locked my heart

In a little compartment

And threw away the key

I never let anyone near it

So how did you do it?

Did you pick the lock without

Setting off the alarm?

Did you slip through the cracks

Like a vampire?

Are you just a ghost?

Haunting me?

Driving me

When I found you

It was so normal

I never expected it to

Turn into this

This constant ache in my heart

Whenever I even think about

Your eyes

Your smile

Your very being is

Stronger than Absinthe

Smoother than

The finest whisky

Can this be what I always

Can this be what the poets talk about

Can this be

My new

Well, I guess I can’t say

That I mind

Can This Be? (a poem)
