CHANGING WEBSITES!

Hi, everyone! I’m here to announce that this website is moving! You’ll still be getting plenty of news and updates, even poetry, from me, but now it will be on my official website.
I’ve been with WordPress for years, and will still be keeping this site up (it has a lot of exclusive poetry), but felt I needed to move to a bigger host.
The new link is below!  I look forward to “seeing” you all there! There’s a section to see all my current work, upcoming projects, press features and ways to contact me. The only thing I have to update is my events page, which will be coming shortly.

PUBLICATION ANNOUNCEMENT: “Death, Love and Lust” Anthology

Hello, readers! I am very happy to be able to announce my next project! I signed the contract today that my short story “The Devil’s Dozen” will be featured in the upcoming anthology Death, Love and Lust! The anthology will be published by Hot Ink Press (a sister company to Vamptasy Publishing, the company who published Stake-Out), and edited by the wonderful Catherine Stovall. It is set to release on November 14th, so mark your calendars!

Below is the synopsis of the story and some teaser images I made for it. This is my very first attempt at writing erotic romance, and I am very pleased that my submission was considered acceptable to be placed amongst some truly talented erotica writers! (Of course, this is erotic horror, as horror will probably always be my main genre.) NOTE: this story is LGBT!

All Claire wants to do is get some gas and go home. She never expected to become involved in a very deadly Friday The 13th myth with a very beautiful woman.thansbedroom devilsdozen devilsdpzenpromothanclaire

But I have a second announcement!

BLOG HOP: Seven Facts About Me (Lily Luchesi)

(NOTE: This is an ORIGINAL BLOG HOP, not a BLOG TOUR. This is an entirely ORIGINAL post, not shared/third party material.)

“This blog hop is designed to show our readers a more personal side. We list seven interesting facts to help cast light onto that tough writer’s persona we all like to project.”

Rules: You post 7 (seven) facts about yourself and then links to 15 (fifteen) blogs (or as many as you can!) that you rate and recommend.
See  Laurie Starkey’s blog for more info.
If your blog is tagged/recommended you don’t have to participate but it would be great if you do. The  more the merrier!
Thanks to Helen Treharne for inviting me to join!

SEVEN FACTS ABOUT ME:

1. I finished my first novel at the age of fourteen and still have plans on getting the revised version published one day. It’s about a nineteen year old girl who’s next door neighbor turns out to be a vampire under a malevolent spell to kill her and rule the world. Yes, I love vampires!

2. I love to write to music. Usually I try to go for silence when working, but one day I put on a fast-paced CD called Smash The Control Machine by Otep and, before I knew it, I was writing sometimes as fast as she was singing/screaming/rapping. I put away a record of ten thousand words that night. I’ve never hit that high again!
I also get inspired by music in general. Sometimes its lyrics, but a lot of the time it’s the emotion in the singer’s voice that hits me. I wrote a make-up scene in an as-yet-unpublished romance novel based solely on the fact that the tone of a singer’s voice made me regretful and want to cry.

3. I love two things that surprise people: crime dramas and sports. Danny, the main character in my upcoming novel Stake-Out, was inspired by Elliot Stabler on Law and Order: SVU and Oscar Vega on Motive. My mom and I will sit down together abd watch NCIS marathons all the time.
I play almost every sport. I love to watch hockey and baseball (go Blackhawks and Cubs!) and there was a time when I toyed with becoming a professional soccer player. I also love to watch the WWE (I do consider pro wrestling a sport, though I know some don’t). An aside: my favorite wrestler is Dean Ambrose.

4. My favorite author is Stephen King. Sixty-eight books and counting and his talent hasn’t waned, in my opinion. He’s managed to give me goosebumps, nightmares, and made me care about people that aren’t even real. I aspire not just to frighten like him, but to create characters who are as real to the readers as his are.

5. When writing, I’ve been known to ignore everyone around me. I specifically remember a moment a few months ago when I was deep in the zone and, apparently, held an entire conversation with my mother without even remembering what was said!
There are times I’ll ignore all social media for weeks and have people asking me if I’m okay haha.
For me, writing is everything. It’s what I can do. It’s my only skill (along with reading, editing and watching TV, that is) and if I couldn’t write there’s a chance I’ll lose my mind.

6. A more personal thing about me that actually does have a little to do with my writing: I’m a chronic sufferer of depression, two types of anxiety, insomnia and PTSD. I was officially diagnosed at seventeen after being inside of a burnng room (my room; the house was on fire). I’ve wanted to die so many times, but I’m here. I’m here because I refuse to give up. If I do anything in my career, I hope I inspire others to keep pushing through whatever issues they have.
We are never given anything we can’t handle.

7. I’m an anime and paranormal lover! I watch Studio Ghibli films all the time, use a Dragon Ball Z purse, and have a tattoo for the TV show Supernatural (which was also made into an anime).
I’ve been obsessed with anime and ghosts my entire life (and have had quite a few paranormal experiences). My first novel (out May 19th, 2015 from Vamptasy Publishing) is paranormal crime, and I believe most of my work well center around the unusual. It’s just who I am.

PUBLICATION ANNOUNCEMENT: “Wishful Thinking”

wishfulthinking coverwishfulthinkingcontents

Hello, readers! I am so very excited to be announcing the official publication of the anthology Wishful Thinking from Fireside Press, the first in the Wishes series of books.

In Wishful Thinking, you will find my horror/sci-fi short story, “Kill ‘Em With Kindness”, about a young man who wishes people would just be kind. He gets his wish, but it all quickly goes horribly wrong…

I was inspired to write this story because of two things: one, the state of this absolutely crazy world we live in and two, a quote I heard a few years ago, about wanting kindness to be a normal thing instead of a rarity. This is my favorite story I’ve written to date and I am so glad that Fireside Press picked it up!

Below you will find the Amazon link (the book is only $0.99!). Please purchase it and leave a review, helping the indie writer community that came together to make this book possible. Most of all, ENJOY!

I grew up surrounded by books, and to know that my story is out there, in a book, for people to enjoy at the leisure, it amazes me. I am so grateful and thankful to God and to everyone who believed in me and encouraged me through this journey. My mom, for one, has always been just the best. She;s the reason I keep pushing onwards. But I have so many friends who keep me going by being supportive. You all know who you are.

Enjoy everyone! xoxo LL

A Century (a poem)

I thought I was mistaken

Never thought I’d see you again

I watched you die

Slowly, your mortal body

Wilted before my undying eyes

I walked away

Didn’t have the courage to change you

Didn’t have a heart to watch your smile

The light in your eyes

Fade away

When you left you took

A little piece of me

Away with you to Heaven

You promised me you’d see me again

Baby, I just wonder when?

Because immortality is no fun

If I can’t spend it with you

And now you’re here

Back again

But you’re not the same

You don’t know me anymore

A familiar face, the same place

But a different heart inside

A century went by

I barely noticed

Missing you

And now I miss you more

You’re here but you’re not the man I knew

Your heart is hardened

And I don’t know what to do

Can I make your mortal heart open up?

Can you make my immortal soul love again?

A Century (a poem)

Masks (a poem)

image

I remember a time when
I hid behind a mask
Just so you would
Notice me
A new shade of hair
Lipgloss
A new name

I know now what a fool I was
You didn’t notice me
You didn’t care
You left without a goodbye
You left without a care

Now you say you miss it here
Now it’s too late
You can’t have what you threw away
Be it a city
A career
A person

I am a person
I am who I am
And I know now that
I will never hide behind a mask again

Masks (a poem)

Heartfelt Heroism (a poem)

They say

The true meaning of

A hero is…

To die so that others can live

Love is…

To care for another’s happiness

More than your own

Life cannot be only

This self-sacrificing charade

We live for others

More than ourselves

Their pains hurt us

Their woes devastate us

But it is not our choice

We were born like this

To hold other’s closer than we hold ourselves

To feel what they feel

To try and ease their suffering

Before our own

While we might not understand it

We cannot turn it off

We must embrace it

And hope that we can help

And be all that we can be

All that we were created to be

Heartfelt Heroism (a poem)
